Call for Authors:

Have you ever thought about writing a book about Odd Fellowship? The Heart in Hand Institute can take you from a manuscript to a completed book in the hands of Odd Fellows around the world. Our staff provides editing services, cover design, layout, marketing, and distribution for your work through direct sales and our network of retailers. We also handle legal and administrative tasks such as securing and enforcing copyrights and issuing ISBN numbers. We are a full service, independent publisher by and for Odd Fellows.

At this time we are looking for new works about Odd Fellowship to publish. Prospective authors may fill out our Author Intake Form to provide us with information about the author and their proposed book. If your manuscript is not yet complete, you may submit a book outline and one or more sample chapters. Our editorial team carefully reviews all submissions and those which meet our standards for content and writing quality will be accepted for publication. If needed, our skilled editors will also work with you to revise your work and polish it for publication. Our art and recording departments may also be available to assist with the production of illustrations and the recording of audiobooks on a case by case basis.

Our authors retain the copyright to their work but provide the Heart in Hand Institute with an exclusive license. Typically we pay royalties to the author or their designated charity (which may include a lodge) annually at a rate of 50% of Net Revenues. This means that the author gets half of the sales received by the publisher after returns as well as printing, shipping, and any other costs associated with production and distribution of the work have been deducted. For those who wish to contribute their royalties to Odd Fellowship-associated causes but don’t have a specific organization or project in mind, we offer the “Heart in Hand Fund” which is engaged in providing assistance at a local lodge level throughout North America.
